Be Still and Know...

We get so caught up with changing, growing, and doing in today's world. Everything we watch, entertain, or listen to is about growth and improvement. Maybe I'm being a little general, but, what happened to just being, staying put, being still, being present, being in the moment, not striving, not achieving, and not chasing? Don’t get me wrong, there is certainly a time and place for growth, development, and change. But, there’s also a time for just being, where there isn't a countdown or schedule. But of course, there's knowing what is driving this desire to change, is it because you've accepted where you are and see a need for it or are you chasing this need for change because you don't feel satisfied with yourself enough?

"Be happy with being you. Love your flaws. Own your quirks." - ARIANA GRANDE

Right now, I am in a season of just being. Over the past few weeks, I’ve learned that I am constantly moving, striving, and looking to achieve something, but I never make time to be present. There is something beautiful in spontaneous and restful moments. To appreciate yourself, you must know who you are and what you offer. If we’re always chasing growth and becoming better but don't take the time to embrace this moment, how do we fall in love with ourselves or our lives? How do we see our worth if, in the first place, we don’t feel worthy because we're persistently trying to change rather than embrace who we are currently? Why do we repeatedly highlight our flaws but hide our beauty? When we take the time to stop constantly seeking and accepting what is and be happy with it, that is when something special happens.

Recently I have been learning how to swim. Swimming has taught me that I am always striving to be better, to be the best, to be great. Which isn't bad, however, life isn't always about these things. Life is also about having fun (Whatever that may look like for you) enjoying the moment, loving and embracing the now. Releasing judgment, shame, guilt, and condemnation for making mistakes, not being the best, being an amateur, or not being determined, committed, and ambitious enough is liberating!

My current goal is to know that it's okay to rest, be present, have fun, be spontaneous, and enjoy who I am today.

This is a great read! To be constantly in a state of chasing is exhausting. The key for me is finding a balance between enjoying my present and working towards my future.
