Overthinking is a killer.

Overthinking will kill anything before our words even have the opportunity. Now imagine someone, telling you "We need to talk" Our brains will go into overdrive, finding as many endings, possibilities, solutions, and scenarios that could finish that sentence and provide us relief. When our brains begin overthinking, we are bracing ourselves. In a way, our brain is bracing us for impact. The impact could be, hurt feelings, hurt egos, emotional distress, or whatever the negative emotion is. Our brain is making sure when we hear it, we have already processed an ideal scenario similar to the one presented before us, so we aren't badly bruised afterward.

"Over-thinking ruins you. It ruins the situation. It twists things around. It makes you worry. It just make things worse than it actually is."

So, again, overthinking kills anything before our words do, because as we are bracing ourselves for impact, our actions are what others see. We may not be verbal but our body language says a lot more than our mouth ever could. So the use of the scenario again someone telling us, "We need to talk" as we are overthinking and finding words to fit our made-up scenarios, this is where our actions speak loud. For instance, there is the possibility that we become avoidant, we shut down, we are angered, we are defensive, we are shy, we push away, we run, and so many other things we do that helps us get out of the situation quicker, something that gives us a little time to process the sentence "we need to talk." Overthinking is derived from anxiety and stress. Anxiety is a natural response to fear. Stress is what follows. Of course, there are other reasons why overthinking occurs but, the two most common include issues with self-esteem and having self-doubt.

When it's all boiled down, a lot of the things we go through as people start with what our inner selves look like. To be the best version of ourselves, there are aspects we don't speak about that need to be worked on. Yes, sure you can hide it from social media, hide it from specific friends, but the issues will always be there and just present themselves in other areas of your life. Growth isn't only outside work, it's the inside too.

When we overthink we never really think something positive is going to happen. As said earlier, overthinking is derived from stress and anxiety. We usually jump straight into the negative side of things. We have to train our minds to constantly and always be positive. Being positive is where the mind is at peace, there may be issues surrounding us but having a positive mindset will always have us anchored in the midst of a storm.
